New My Things feature freezes my client

For those of you getting the freezing/stalls with My Things menu, are you running just the default v12631 client, or do you also have extra add-ons installed like bboy's Quickbar/MyGear/Compass or similar?

Try the Green v12602 client and see if the same thing happens after you load any needed textures. Just curious.

No freezing that I or our students have noticed since v12631 update aside from the usual intermittent stuff. I've been using a Core2Duo, Athlon64 and our lab has Mac Pro towers in boot camp. All WinXP Pro with the default v12631 and *NO* add-ons.

it's freezing me up and i'm not coming out of some of the freeze ups, have to shut the client and restart it, i would of rather had the option to organize the my gear (like have a xmas folder, halloween folder, etc.)than to worry bout dropping things from the my things, just an opinion, now i freeze freeze freeze, i do use a compass but it never did this before

I see the issue of inventory heavy Avie's arise alot, what if any is the ideal amount of inventory one should have?

Didn't I read somewhere that would be around 100 items in a single folder? At least that's how I sort my inventory these days...

• About how many Add-on items are in the folders that are freezing?
• How many Add-on do you think you own overall?

The My Things menu should operate as follows...

1. The inventory loads when you first login. Until My Gear has finished loading, you actually won't see any Take One Out options on the Add-on items. You also shouldn't notice any particular slowness opening any of the folders.
2. One the inventory has finished loaded, you may notice a pause the first time you open a folder with Add-on items in it. For a small amount of items (<100), this pause should be relatively short (1-2 seconds). Although we want to prove this to be true (the reason for the above question).
3. For folders that do not have Add-on items in it, you should not see a Take One Out related pause.

How likely is it that we will have an updated inventory/organizer thingy that would tell us how many items/add-ons are in our possession?
I think this would be very helpful as I know I have alot of items and I admit I lost count of mine ROFL

I'm not so concerned about exact numbers. But if someone says "I only have 10 items and my clients hangs", it may be a different problem than "I have several thousand in one folder"

So If I'm clear in what I'm reading your taking away the 'this place menu to pull objects out from?

So hows about trading me nobjects per workzone I own? So I can just yank out as many as I may need per test. You would just have to make them available in shop, and vehicle friendly.

Not sure I understand what you mean, SassyBeMe.

TheChaz and co are trying to find out what patterns go along with clients experiencing these freezes and *IF* they are related to the new "Take One Out" menu option in MyThings or related to something else. Knowing the approximate SIZE (count of items within) of MyThings folders that are stalling/freezing may help.

An "Add-on" item is one that can normally be dropped in a zone (PAZ, Lot, etc.) via This Place > My Gear menus.

I don't mean to speak for you Chaz, but does that sum it up?

None of us on our end have experienced the freeze even with our large inventories, but that may be apples and oranges compared to some members' storehouses. While I have not heard any complaints about this from our students, most of them do not have large inventories. I will poll the class again to make sure.
